ECB has appointed South African Steve Elworthy as the tournament director of the 2009 edition of ICC World Twenty20 cup scheduled to be held in England. He held the same post for the Last edition held in south Africa earlier this year. ECB chief executive David colier feels that Elworthy would be an ideal candidate for the job as he has the experience of the job as well as the location as Elworthy has played plenty of county cricket in England.
Speaking to the news sources Elworthy told that it is a honour to be nominated to run the event in 2009. He said it’s a honour as well as a challenge and he is relishing it. He told the 2007 edition was a festival of world class cricket and he hope that the next edition would be even grander than it. India won the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 Tournament 2007 in South Africa beating the Pakistanis in a scintillating final.
