The national selectors have differed the selection dates for the test captaincy. The panel was supposed to select the team for the upcoming Indo-Pak ODI ties as well as name the captain for the tests on Saturday [27th October 2007]. In a not so unusual way for them, the Indian selectors decided to play the cat and mouse game for bit longer.
The selector from north zone Mr.Bhupinder Singh said that the panel wants to observe M.S. Dhoni for a little longer before deciding on this issue. The Twenty20 world championship winning captian is one of the two front runners for the top job, Sachin Tendulkar being the other.
Pakistan will play a 5 ODIs series which will start on 5th November 2007 at Guwahati’s Nehru Stadium. The five ODI series will be followed by 3 Test to be held at Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore respectively. The Team for the first 2 ODIs will be selected in Ahmadabad on Saturday the 27th Oct 2007.
