Mohammad Asif to miss India ODI Series

November 2, 2007   •   News

Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif will not be part of the squad for the first 3 ODIs against India due to a chronic elbow problem.

“Asif …. is not leaving with the team today. He is ruled out of the first three one-dayers but could miss the entire tour if his injury does not heal in time,” said Shafqat Naghmi, COO of the Pakistan Cricket Board in a news conference.

The PCB earlier received a confirmation from Asif that he hasn’t made a complete recovery from the injury. The PCB did not name a replacement for Asif as yet. Asif has already missed four of the five one-day matches against the South Africans last month because of the same elbow problem. Pakistan will start the five-match one-day series against India on Nov 5 at Guwahati. They are playing the one off practice match against the Delhi XI Today.
