According to reports in the media Sachin Tendulkar could be one of the bidders for the ownership of the Mumbai team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). A report in the Economic Times said that Future Group owner Kishore Biyani is trying to rope in Sachin as a minor partner in his bid to own the Mumbai team.
If this news turns true it could ensure Sachin Tendulkar a fixed fee and share in the profits of the team. Having Tendulkar in the team and in the management would make it easy for the team to attract cricketers and top sponsors. However, the Future Group chairman brushed these suggestions aside terming them as “speculations”. Tendulkar’s management team was not available to comment on this issue.
The IPL governing body has invited three broadcasters - ESPN-Star, Nimbus Sports and Sony Entertainment Television to make presentations before awarding the rights to telecast the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League.
