The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a yet another warning to its players contracted with the Indian Cricket League (ICL), The board threatened the players saying those who turn out for the rebel league will not be considered for future selections to the national team.
ICL has signed up several Pakistani players. Imran Farhat, Taufiq Umar, Azhar Mahmood, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq and Inzamam-ul Haq already in India to play in the league which is scheduled to start on 30th November.
The PCB chairman dismissed suggestions that the PCB is acting under pressure from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “No, we are simply following the policy of the International Cricket Council and other member boards which do not recognise the ICL. Our stand is no different from others. The league is not a sanctioned one,” said the PCB
chairman.
He further added that “The day it is recognised by the ICC we will also accept it. But for the moment it is a tournament which is an unofficial event and not supported by any Board.”
Referring to Mohammad Yousaf’s breaching of ICL contract and the threats from ICL on that issue he said “We have hired a very competent legal team in India to defend Yousuf and they have assured us they will take care of everything,”.
