ICL : Lara is still on board

November 21, 2007   •   Indian Cricket League

Indian Cricket League (ICL) denied the Lara drop out story as a rumor. The whole thing started when the Mumbai Champs captain was absent for the practice sessions and also there are unconfirmed reports that the master batsman’s lawyers have contacted the ICL on his change of mind. But, the organizers insisted that he was never scheduled to arrive in India until later this week.

ICL’s marketing chief, Gaurav Seth, said that Lara issue is a mere speculation. The foreign players were expected to join the teams only from this week; was happy that Nathan Astle and [Johan] van der Wath have already joined ahead of schedule. He said that he was expecting Lara, Vikram Solanki and Nantie Hayward to join their teams by the 21st or 22nd.

Sources in the ICL told that the Indian board had been “building pressure on Lara to cancel the ICL contract for the board-backed Indian Premier League (IPL)”.
